Meet Marcy
From an early age, movement, connection, and service have been central threads in my life. As a classical ballet dancer, nature lover and spiritual seeker, my understanding of self and the world is deeply rooted in the body and its rhythms.
After experiencing some injuries and turning points that pivoted my anticipated career in the arts, my own healing journey led me to in-depth study of yoga. With an Ayurvedic informed and therapeutic focus, I went on to pursue yoga teacher training and certification.

Drawn to the relationship between body, mind, and healing, I completed my Nursing education and have worked in clinical practice for nearly a decade. My background in healthcare informs a multifaceted understanding of the body, while emphasizing what it means to be empowered in our healing. I have a special passion for and experience with maternal, infant and child health and perinatal families.

Aspiring to bridge my conventional health background with modalities that facilitated deep personal expansion in my own life, I continued training in expressive movement therapy and various streams of earth-based healing. I went on to complete a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology, where I felt I could integrate the interconnection of the emotional and psychosocial aspects of being.
As a psychotherapist, I integrate evidence-based counselling, somatic awareness and emotional/energetic regulation. I support clients in reconnecting with themselves and enhancing their capacity for inner joy, presence and connection.
It is my hope that my clients will feel a sense of ease navigating the world in their most authentic and empowered expression. My approach is compassionate, body-centered, and trauma-informed, integrating both the science of healing and the wisdom of lived experience.

Outside of my work, I’m a mother of two (plus a few beloved fur-babies) who finds joy in nature, movement, reading, creative writing, travel, and time spent exploring nature with my young family.

Acknowledgements
I honour my Slovakian heritage- one that was celebrated and alive in my late grandparents and great grandparents; and those of my paternal lineage in Ancient Britain and Ireland.

I honour the land of my birthplace - the collective ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg, comprising the Chippewa, Odawa, and Potawatomi peoples. I also acknowledge the sacred waters of the St. Clair River and Lake Huron.
I acknowledge and honour the land that my family and I live, work and play presently and for the last ten years: the traditional territories of the Peoples of Treaty 7; which include the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, the Stoney Nakoda First Nation (including the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations) and the Metis Nation of Alberta (districts 5 and 6). May we learn and grow together as stewards of this land.

I acknowledge all my teachers, past and present, who have and continue to shape my ways of being and knowing. Thank you for carrying your respective lineages with such grace and integrity and for your unwavering commitment to your gifts and service. I am forever grateful to be in your orbit.
About Oak Moon
Oak Moon is more than just a name. Inspired by a 17th century English lullaby that was sung in many a car-ride, campfire and bedside across generations in my family, it is deeply meaningful and represents a felt sense of connection, meaning and regulation.
It is also a reminder that resources inclusive of all our relations (person, land, nature, sense of Divine) may be allies and witnesses in our path to wholeness.
In Celtic lore, the 'Duir Moon' means door, which offers a beautiful metaphor for coming into the personal portal of healing, with mighty oak providing a symbol of structure, containment and grounding.
In the Northern Hemisphere, the Oak Moon, otherwise known as the 'Long Night Moon', aligns with the winter solstice; the initiation of the season of dark. I have always loved this transition that marks a turning inward, mirroring nature's quiet and deep rest. The cycles and rhythms of the moon provides us a template of a non-linear journey - one where all of your brightness and shadow are welcome. It is my hope that our work together will offer some support in your own long night's journey, or whatever season you find yourself in.
